PROMISES (Part 1a)

Sunday 11th April, 2021.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY:
Luke 24:1-12

SCRIPTURES IN FOCUS
Luke 24:2-3,12 NKJV
But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. [3] Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. [12] But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.
We are familiar with broken and unfulfilled promises because we live in a world that is filled with broken promises and unfulfilled expectations.
We make commitments and don’t follow through. We make plans and promises that we many a times don’t keep. Marketing experts create commercials and adverts that entice us to purchase certain products with the expectation that the products will give us happiness, solutions to problems, make us healthy, rich or famous but in the end we realise that they are just empty promises and façade. Politicians make campaign promises they hardly keep.
The world’s promises are full of emptiness but on the Resurrection day, instead of promises full of emptiness, God gave us emptiness that is full of promises. There are at least two resurrection symbols that portray emptiness full of fulfilled promises. These are: an empty grave and empty clothes.
It is the very fact that each of these emptiness gives us an assurance that God’s promises are not empty and unfulfilled but He fulfilled His promises in emptiness.
To be cont’d.

Lesson
God watches over His Word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:12) and His Words will never fail or disappoint.

Prayer
Holy Spirit please give me the grace to hold on to your promises and not doubt or despair, come what may.

Thought For The Day
Let us walk by faith to receive all the promises embedded in the emptiness of the resurrection.
