VGMA 22: Diana Hamilton wins Artiste of the Year.

Mrs Diana Hamilton, was the most decorated artiste in the early hours on Sunday, June 17, when she won the most coveted award in the music industry – Artiste of the year in the 22nd edition of the annual celebration.

She beat competition from Kidi, Adina, Kwami Eugene and Sarkodie to become the second female and also the second gospel artiste to win this award, after the late Ebony and Joe Mettle won it respectively.

The ‘Adom’ hit maker could not hide her joy as her song has made grace to locate her. She also bagged three other awards – Gospel song and artiste of the year and most popular song to make it four awards in all.

Kidi, who was so confident of winning and missed out on the artist of the year also walked home with four awards. The Lynx Entertainment signee won Best Highlife song with Enjoyment, Best Afrobeat/ Afropop song with Say Cheese, Best Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste and EP of the year awards.

Adina continue from where she left off yesterday by winner two others, Reggae/Dancehall song of the year with ‘Why’ and her Araba Album was adjudged the best for the year. In all, she won three aword, one on day 1 and two on Saturday.

Hip hop new sensation, Yaw Tog’s ‘Sore’ was good enough to win the Hip hop Song of the year while Mr Drew won the New Artiste of Year award. Eno Barony in the night became the first female win the Best Rap Performance for the year.
